4 Common Uses of Industrial Fans

An industrial plant or factory is a complex operation involving many people, equipment and processes. There are a wide variety of industries producing different types of industrial goods. Interestingly, some industrial equipment are used by most industrial plants. An industrial Centrifugal fan is the kind of equipment that is found in almost every factory.

The industrial fan is used for different activities in the manufacturing process. Here’s a quick look at some of the most common needs for which industries use such fans.

To Remove Hazardous Gases from Industrial Working Areas
Some industries have to deal with toxic gases during the manufacturing process. Industries, such as medical, chemical, agricultural components, food processing, and others have to deal with hazardous gases in order to manufacture products. However, these toxic fumes make the conditions inside the factories hazardous for the people who are working in the factories. A simple way to achieve it is to ensure that the air flow is maintained even in the enclosed spaces where the work is performed. This is done by using industrial fans, which ensure that there is a constant flow of fresh air for replacing the stale and contaminated air to keep the working conditions bearable.

Industrial Fans are Used to Dry Materials and Products in Industrial Processes
In food industry as well as other industries like printing, industrial fans play an important role in drying the materials to create the final product. For food based industries like tea, coffee, biscuits and other food related items, industrial process fans are used for enhancing quality and speed in the manufacturing process. In printing process and paper making units, industrial fans are extensively used in the manufacturing process.

To Maintain Ambient Temperature and Work Conditions in Industrial Plants
In some industrial activities, the air is contaminated with dust or other contaminants produced during the manufacturing process. These need to be reduced drastically or eliminated to make it safe for the people to work in the factory. This is done by the industrial fans that ventilate the premises with fresh air.

Another issue is that in some processes immense amount of heat is generated, that needs to be pushed out to enable the people to work in ambient conditions. Otherwise, it could cause severe health and sometimes even cause physical harm. Coal based thermal plants are one such industry in which the heat needs to be pushed out.

Industries that Have Furnaces Use Industrial Draft Fans for Combustion
Draft fans are of two types induced draft fans and forced draft fans. Whenever, an industrial process uses a furnace, the induced draft fan (ID Fan) is needed to pump air into the furnace to enable combustion. In addition, the process will also require a forced draft (FD) fan to take the heat out of the furnace area. Furnaces are used in a wide range of industrial processes and hence the usage of the draft fans in extensive in industrial plants.

Industrial Fans are a Critical Component of the Factory Equipment
Industrial fans have various applications and uses based on the industry in which they are used. The exact use and the type of industry in which they are deployed determine the size and type of the industrial process fan that is installed. While some of the fans are available of the shelf, the vast majority of the industrial fans are custom manufactured to the design specifications. Irrespective of the size and type of industrial fan, it is important to understand that they are a critical component of the factory equipment.
